Around the World in 80 Dresses
As luxury Chinese travelers spearhead the global travel industry; designer Grace Chen is on a mission to spread the iconic image of modern Chinese women worldwide with her “Fashion Travel Series”.
Grace Chen “Fashion Travel Series” started in 2017, where Chen arrived in Tasmania with 6 VIP customers — and 80 couture dresses. Nine days later, hundreds of epic fashion shots emerged and an unforgettable experience for the 6 “models” who were featured.
In less than a year, Chen has taken her customers across four continents – from countries like Kenya to Japan, England, and most recently, the 2018 China Fashion Gala in New York.
The exhibition showcases Grace Chen fashion photography from 2011 to present. Displaying works feature both customers and professional models (including British socialite Lady Victoria Hervey) in Chen's couture pieces across nine different countries.
“The purpose of my Fashion Travel Series is to place my customers — who are some of the most elite female business leaders — in surreal contexts that can allow them to see themselves in a new way. We often look at art and sculpture to appreciate their beauty…But have we ever thought to look at ourselves in such a way?”
