Designer Grace Chen Returns to New York City for Debut Show at 2018 China Fashion Gala
22 years after graduating as Fashion Institute of Technology’s first student of Chinese Mainland descent, Shanghai-based designer Grace Chen returns to New York City to debut her “New York” inspired collection to an audience of VIPs at the 2018 China Fashion Gala.

As the highlight designer for establishing the iconic image of modern Chinese women worldwide, Chen joins powerhouse honorees designer Christian Louboutin; Alessandro Bastagli and Massimiliano Giornetti, Executive Chairman and Creative Director of Shanghai Tang, respectively; Tiffany & Co. and actress Maggie Q, to promote and support emerging Chinese talent on the international stage.




The 2018 Gala was hosted by Yue-Sai Kan, President of China Beauty Charity Fund, and James Heimowitz, President of China Institute. Abigail Posner, Head of Strategy at Google's Brand Unit, was the Master of Ceremonies. Actress Ripley Sobo also graced the red carpet in one of Grace Chen’s dress.

Highlight of the evening was the full-length couture fashion show curated by Grace Chen, featuring signature pieces from her classic lines “Little Red Dress”, “Modern Qipaos” and her latest collection “Modern Times”, inspired by New York.
